The Rainsmart soakaway crates are supplied flat-packed for easy on-site assembly, typically taking only 1-2 minutes per crate. Each unit measures 715mm x 400mm x 440mm and contributes to a shallow soakaway system. Each crate provides 120 litres of storage with a 95% void ratio, and eight crates can create a 1m³ soakaway. With load ratings of 24.2 t/m² vertical and 18 t/m² lateral, these crates are suitable for garden and pedestrian use. No structural clips are required; cable ties can secure units during assembly, with side fill ensuring long-term installation stability. A non-woven geotextile membrane is included and must be wrapped around all outward-facing surfaces to prevent soil ingress and maintain system efficiency. Pipes of 110mm or 160mm can connect through the end entry plate. For a 110mm pipe, insert it approximately 150mm into the crate after cutting a cross in the membrane, peeling it back, and securing it tightly around the pipe to prevent particle ingress. A rubber mallet is supplied with 1m³ sets. To enhance system lifespan and reduce silt entry, consider using a pre-filter like the SiltGuard Silt Trap.
