Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure your plant establishes correctly, follow these guidelines:
- Planting Depth: Keep the crown of the plant submerged in no more than 10cm of water.
- Soil Composition: Use a heavy, loam-based aquatic soil. Avoid lightweight potting mixes that might float away or lack the necessary nutrients.
- Placement: Position in full sun to partial shade. While it can handle shade, the variegation is often more vibrant in brighter, sun-dappled locations.
- Care Routine: Trim back dead or yellowing foliage in late winter to encourage vigorous growth for the coming spring. Ensure the container remains consistently wet; if planting in a bog garden, check that the soil remains saturated throughout the summer months.
