The ceramic bowl and holder are generally dishwasher safe, but the bamboo whisk and scoop must be hand-washed only.
It helps the bamboo whisk retain its shape and ensures proper airflow between the prongs for hygienic drying.
Typically, two scoops with the chashaku provide the standard amount for one bowl of tea, but you can adjust based on your preference.
While the bowl is ceramic, it is intended for traditional tea preparation. We recommend using a kettle to heat water separately to avoid thermal shock to the bowl.
No, this is a tool set only; you will need to purchase your preferred grade of matcha powder separately.
A higher number of prongs like 100 allows for more efficient agitation of the water, resulting in a much finer and smoother foam.
Always use the included stainless steel sifter to aerate and break down powder clumps before adding water.
Ensure the whisk is always returned to the ceramic whisk stand after washing so it dries in the correct orientation.
Check that the water temperature is correct (too hot can burn the tea) and ensure you are using a rapid 'W' motion with the whisk.
To keep your set in pristine condition, rinse the bamboo chasen with warm water immediately after each use. Never use soap on the bamboo components, as they may absorb the scent or chemicals. Always place the whisk on the ceramic stand to ensure the prongs dry evenly and maintain their curve. The ceramic bowl and whisk holder are easy to clean with mild detergent and water. Before the first use, inspect all components for any transit-related debris and hand-wash the bowl thoroughly. Avoid putting the bamboo tools in a dishwasher, as high heat and pressure will cause the wood to splinter or warp.
