Product Information

Full details

The Dapetz 1000mm folding ruler is an essential measuring tool for woodworkers, contractors, and DIY enthusiasts who require a blend of precision and portability. Its durable PVC construction and dual-scale system provide reliable accuracy for both metric and imperial projects, though users should be aware that, while flexible, it may not match the rigid stability of a solid steel rule for extremely long-span scribing.

FAQs

What units of measurement are included?

The ruler features both metric (millimeters/centimeters) and imperial (inches) units.

Is the material heat resistant?

While the PVC is durable for standard workshop use, it should be kept away from extreme heat sources to prevent warping.

Can it be used for drawing lines?

Yes, its flat surface allows it to act as a straight edge for marking lines with a pencil or scribe.

Does it lock at angles other than 90 and 180 degrees?

The tool is designed with specific locks for 90 and 180 degrees, but can be held at other angles manually.

Is this ruler suitable for professional construction work?

Yes, its robust build makes it well-suited for general construction and site-based measurement tasks.

Troubleshooting

Joints feel stiff when unfolding

Gently manipulate the joints back and forth to clear any accumulated dust or debris.

Scale markings look dirty

Clean the surface with a soft, damp cloth and a mild soap solution, then dry thoroughly.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Highly portable and lightweight design
Dual-scale measurements (Metric and Imperial)
Durable, drop-resistant PVC material
Easy to read under various lighting conditions
Locks securely at useful angles

Cons

Not as rigid as solid metal rulers
PVC may experience minor thermal expansion in extreme heat
Maximum length is limited to 1000mm

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Using the Dapetz ruler is straightforward: simply unfold the segments to your desired length. To lock into the 90 or 180-degree position, align the joints until you feel the locking mechanism engage. For care, wipe the ruler down with a dry cloth after use to remove sawdust or debris that might obscure the markings. Avoid using harsh chemical solvents for cleaning, as these may degrade the PVC surface. Store the ruler in its folded position to protect the joints and ensure longevity.
