Setup, Compatibility & Care
Sowing:
Sow seeds directly into well-drained soil after the last frost or start indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost date. Plant seeds about 1 cm deep.
Spacing:
For mature plants, allow 30-45 cm between plants. For baby leaf, you can sow more densely.
Location:
Choose a sunny location. Kale prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade, especially in hotter climates. Ensure the soil is fertile and rich in organic matter.
Watering:
Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods. Water at the base of the plant to prevent fungal diseases.
Care:
Amend soil with compost before planting. Mulch around plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Protect young seedlings from pests. Harvest outer leaves regularly to encourage continuous growth.
