Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setting up the hutch requires basic assembly tools and should be done on a flat, level surface to ensure the doors align correctly with the locking latches. It is compatible with standard bedding materials, though owners should ensure the floor remains dry.
To ensure long-term performance:
- Routine Inspection: Check all latches and wire mesh panels monthly for any signs of loosening.
- Cleaning: Remove soiled bedding weekly and wipe down interior surfaces with a pet-safe disinfectant.
- Weather Protection: While the wood is treated, applying an additional coat of pet-safe wood preservative every 6–12 months is recommended to ensure the timber stays resistant to moisture and rot.
- Placement: If keeping the hutch on grass, consider elevating it slightly or moving it periodically to prevent moisture buildup beneath the base.
