Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Determine the desired pivot point for your application (e.g., tailboard, gate).
- Position the gudgeon pins on both the mounting surface (e.g., trailer frame) and the hinged component (e.g., tailboard).
- For welding: Ensure clean surfaces and weld the pins securely. The self-colour finish is intended for direct welding.
- For bolting: Drill appropriate-sized holes through the base of the pins and the mounting surfaces, then secure with suitable bolts and nuts.
Compatibility:
These pins are compatible with a wide range of steel fabrications including tailboards, truck bodies, trailers, tippers, balers, and skips. The 12.5mm pin diameter and 50mm x 25mm base dimensions should be considered for clearance and mounting space.
Care:
As the pins are supplied 'self-colour', they are susceptible to rust if left untreated. It is highly recommended to apply a protective coating after installation. Options include:
- Galvanizing: For superior rust protection in harsh environments.
- Zinc Coating: A common protective finish.
- Painting: Apply a suitable metal primer and topcoat for desired colour and protection.
