Setup, Compatibility & Care
Surface Preparation: Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and loose material. For previously painted surfaces, lightly sand and remove any flaking paint. For bare wood, apply one coat of Johnstone's Exterior Wood Primer and Undercoat. For bare metal, apply a suitable metal primer. Prepared masonry surfaces should also be primed.
Compatibility: This gloss is ideal for exterior wood, metal, and prepared masonry. For optimal 6-year durability, use in conjunction with Johnstone's 6 Year Exterior Undercoat. Do not apply to surfaces that are damp or likely to remain wet.
Application: Stir thoroughly before use. Apply with a good quality brush or roller. Two coats are recommended for best results. Allow a minimum of 4-6 hours for the paint to become touch dry, and wait for 16-24 hours before applying a second coat. For optimal performance and the 6-year durability claim, adhere strictly to the recommended drying times and undercoat usage.
Care & Cleanup: Clean brushes and equipment immediately after use with Johnstone's White Spirit or a suitable mineral spirit. Dried paint may require scraping or burning off. Store paint in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and ensure the lid is tightly sealed.
