Setup, Compatibility & Care
For successful setup, choose a pot that is only slightly larger than the bulb itself, as Amaryllis prefer a snug fit. Always use a high-quality, well-draining potting medium to prevent moisture from pooling around the base of the bulb, which can lead to rot. If you choose to move your plant outdoors in the summer, ensure it is placed in a spot protected from direct, harsh sun and heavy rain. Always bring the plant indoors well before the first frost, as the bulb cannot tolerate freezing temperatures. During the resting phase in autumn, reduce water significantly and move the pot to a cool, dark location to trigger the dormant period necessary for the following winter's cycle.
