Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility:
These valves are designed with standard 15mm (1/2" BSP) connections, making them compatible with most radiators and heated towel rails that use this common pipe size. They are suitable for use with standard hot water heating systems.
Setup/Installation:
- Isolate System: Turn off your central heating system and drain the radiator you are working on.
- Remove Old Valve: Unscrew the old radiator valve from the radiator and the pipework.
- Prepare Threads: Clean the threads on the radiator and pipework. Apply appropriate PTFE tape or pipe jointing compound to the radiator's connection thread to ensure a watertight seal.
- Install New Valve: Screw the new valve hand-tight into the radiator connection, then use a wrench to tighten it further (typically 1-2 full turns). Ensure the valve is straight.
- Connect Pipework: Connect the water supply pipe to the valve. Ensure this connection is also securely tightened and sealed.
- Refill System: Once both valves are installed, refill your heating system and bleed any air from the radiators.
- Check for Leaks: Turn the heating back on and carefully inspect both connections on the valve for any signs of dripping. Tighten slightly if leaks are detected.
Care Instructions:
To maintain the matt black finish, clean the valves periodically with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish. For stubborn marks, a mild soap solution can be used, followed by a rinse and thorough drying with a clean cloth.
