FAQs

Are these shorts suitable for mountain biking?

While technically usable, they are specifically cut for the road cycling position and may feel restrictive during the dynamic, out-of-saddle movements common in mountain biking.

How do I claim the limited lifetime warranty?

Retain your original proof of purchase and contact the retailer or the manufacturer directly to initiate a claim regarding any material or manufacturing defects.

Can I wear underwear under these shorts?

No, cycling shorts are designed to be worn against the skin to prevent chafing caused by seams and fabric bunching.

Does the gel pad get heavy when wet?

The material is designed to wick moisture away quickly; while it will hold some sweat, it is optimized to prevent waterlogging.

Are the reflective details effective at night?

Yes, the reflective elements are strategically placed to catch vehicle headlights, significantly increasing visibility in low-light environments.

Troubleshooting

Silicone leg grippers sliding during rides

Ensure your skin is clean and free of oils, lotions, or embrocation creams before putting on the shorts, as these can cause the silicone to lose its grip.

Chamois feeling uncomfortable after several washes

Check if fabric softener was used, which leaves a residue on the chamois. Perform a delicate wash cycle with a technical gear cleanser to restore breathability.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your Madison Sportive Road Shorts, follow these care instructions:

  1. Washing: Machine wash on a gentle cycle at 30 degrees Celsius. Always use a wash bag to prevent the silicone grippers from snagging on other items.
  2. Detergents: Avoid biological detergents and fabric softeners, as these can degrade the anti-bacterial properties of the chamois and the elasticity of the fabric.
  3. Drying: Air dry only. Do not tumble dry, as the heat will damage the internal gel structure of the chamois.
  4. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Ensure the shorts are completely dry before folding to prevent fabric mold or odor buildup.
