Ophiopogon 'Nigrescens', commonly known as Black Mondo Grass, is a rhizomatous or tufted evergreen perennial that forms dense clumps of leathery, narrowly strap-shaped leaves. The leaves are typically black and can grow to 20-30cm in length. It produces racemes of small, bell-shaped white or mauve flowers on leafless stems during the summer months. These are often followed by glossy black berries. This hardy shrub is suitable for various garden settings and is a popular choice for its striking dark foliage.
