Setup, Compatibility & Care
To install the M914, you will need a square taper bottom bracket of the correct spindle length for your specific frame shell. Ensure the crank bolt is tightened to the manufacturer's recommended torque specification (usually between 35-50 Nm) to prevent the arm from rocking on the spindle. Compatibility is limited to 9-speed chains and 9-speed front derailleurs. For maintenance, keep the chainrings free of excessive mud and road grime. Periodically check the crank arm bolts for tightness after the first 50 miles of riding, as the square taper interface can settle over time. Use a dedicated crank puller tool for removal to avoid damaging the crank arm threads.
