FAQs

Is this tyre suitable for modern sportbikes?

No, the Kenda K265 is designed for classic Chinese urban motorcycles and restoration projects. Its construction and tread pattern are not optimized for the demands of modern sportbike performance.

Do I need to buy two tyres if I want a front and rear set?

Yes, this listing is for a single tyre. You will need to purchase the correct front and rear tyre sizes separately if your motorcycle requires different sizes for each position.

How do I know if I need a Tubed (TT) or Tubeless (TL) tyre?

The tyre size designation will indicate this. 'TT' means it requires an inner tube, while 'TL' means it is designed for tubeless mounting. Check your motorcycle's rim type to determine compatibility.

Can I use this tyre on any vintage motorcycle?

While it's designed for classic Chinese urban motorcycles, its suitability depends on matching the specific tyre dimensions, load rating, and speed rating to your motorcycle's requirements. Always consult your motorcycle's manual.

What is the expected lifespan of this tyre?

Tyre lifespan varies greatly depending on riding style, road conditions, maintenance (like correct inflation pressure), and storage. For its intended use on classic bikes, expect longevity suitable for moderate, classic-style riding.

Where can I find the exact size and ratings for my motorcycle?

Refer to your motorcycle's owner's manual or the sidewall information on your currently fitted tyres. This will provide the correct size, load index, and speed rating.

Troubleshooting

Tyre does not hold air pressure

Ensure the rim is clean and free of damage. If it's a Tubed (TT) tyre, verify the inner tube is not pinched and the valve stem is properly seated. If it's a Tubeless (TL) tyre, check the bead seal on the rim for leaks.

Uneven wear pattern develops

Check wheel balancing and ensure the motorcycle's suspension is in good working order. Incorrect alignment or suspension issues can cause premature or uneven tyre wear.

Difficulty mounting the tyre

Ensure the correct tyre size is being used for the rim. Using a tyre lubricant can aid mounting. Avoid forcing the tyre, as this can damage the bead.

Pros and Cons

Provides an authentic classic aesthetic for vintage motorcycles.
Specifically designed for older Chinese urban motorcycle models.
Helps achieve a period-correct look for restorations.
Can be suitable for front or rear fitment, offering flexibility.
Clear indication of Tubeless (TL) or Tubed (TT) designation.

Cons

This is a single tyre listing; pairs must be purchased separately.
May not be suitable for modern motorcycles or high-performance riding.
Limited availability in specific modern sizes.
Tread pattern is optimized for classic aesthetics, not necessarily peak modern performance.
Requires careful checking of specific front/rear fitment for certain models.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

Verify Size: Always confirm that the tyre size (e.g., 3.50-19) matches your motorcycle's specifications and the rim dimensions.
Tubed vs. Tubeless: Check if your rim requires a tube (TT) or is designed for tubeless (TL) fitment. The K265 designation will indicate which type it is.
Professional Installation Recommended: For safety and proper seating, it is highly recommended to have motorcycle tyres installed by a qualified technician using appropriate tools.

Compatibility:

Primarily designed for older Chinese urban motorcycles.
Check the 'Front Or Rear' designation for universal fitment possibilities, but always verify with your motorcycle's manual.
Ensure the load and speed rating are sufficient for your motorcycle's requirements.

Care:

Regular Inspection: Periodically check tyre pressure, looking for signs of wear, cuts, or embedded objects.
Cleaning: Clean the tyres with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or solvents that can degrade the rubber.
Storage: If storing the motorcycle long-term, ensure tyres are kept out of direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Consider placing the bike on stands to prevent flat spots.
