Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper installation is critical for the function of Iridium plugs.
- Verification: Always verify the part number `SILMAR10C9S` matches your motorcycle’s service manual requirements.
- Preparation: Ensure the engine is completely cool before removing old plugs to prevent thread damage in the cylinder head.
- Handling: Never attempt to adjust the gap of an Iridium plug by prying against the center electrode, as it is extremely brittle and easily damaged.
- Torque: Use a torque wrench to tighten the plug to the manufacturer's specified setting; do not over-tighten, as this can crush the washer and damage the seal.
- Maintenance: Periodically inspect the plug during routine oil changes to ensure there is no evidence of excessive oil fouling or improper combustion coloring.
