Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup & Patch Testing
Before incorporating any new active ingredients into your routine, especially with a set like this, patch testing is crucial. Apply a small amount of each product to an inconspicuous area (e.g., behind the ear or on the inner forearm) for a few days to check for adverse reactions like redness, irritation, or itching.
Application Order & Usage
For optimal results and to avoid potential ingredient conflicts, follow this general order:
- Cleanse: Begin with a gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type.
- Glycolic Acid 7% Exfoliating Toner: Apply once daily, preferably in the evening, after cleansing. Dispense onto a reusable cotton pad and gently swipe over the face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Do not rinse.
- Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%: Apply a few drops to the entire face morning and evening after toner (or after cleansing if not using a toner). Massage gently until absorbed.
- Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5: Apply a few drops to the entire face morning and evening after Niacinamide (or after Niacinamide, if using). Gently pat onto slightly damp skin for enhanced absorption.
- Moisturizer & SPF: Always follow with a good moisturizer. In the morning, finish with broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, as Glycolic Acid can increase sun sensitivity.
Compatibility Notes
- Glycolic Acid: Use with caution alongside other strong exfoliating acids (AHAs/BHAs) or retinoids to avoid over-exfoliation. Start slow (2-3 times a week) and increase frequency as tolerated.
- Niacinamide: Generally well-tolerated. Avoid combining with Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) in the same routine, particularly at high concentrations, as it can reduce the efficacy of both. If using both, use Vitamin C in the morning and Niacinamide in the evening.
- Hyaluronic Acid: Highly compatible with most other ingredients and can be layered effectively.
Care for Reusable Cotton Pads
- After Each Use: Rinse the pad thoroughly with warm water.
- Cleaning: For deeper cleaning, hand wash with a mild soap or machine wash in a laundry bag with similar colors at a low temperature.
- Drying: Air dry completely before storing to prevent mildew.
- Longevity: With proper care, reusable cotton pads can last for many uses, making them an eco-friendly choice.
