FAQs

Do I need a prescription for Clavaseptin?

Yes, Clavaseptin is a prescription antibiotic and can only be obtained through a licensed veterinarian.

Can I split the tablets if my pet needs a smaller dose?

You should only split tablets if specifically directed by your veterinarian and if the tablet is scored for such use.

How long does it take to see results?

While some improvement may be noted in a few days, the full course must be completed to ensure the infection is fully eradicated.

Are there any known side effects?

As with any antibiotic, potential side effects can include digestive upset; always consult your vet if your pet acts unusual.

Can I give this to my other pets?

No, this medication should only be used for the specific pet it was prescribed for and for the condition identified by the vet.

Troubleshooting

Pet refuses to eat the tablet

Try hiding the tablet inside a small portion of wet food, a specialized pill pocket, or a soft treat to mask the texture and flavor.

Pet shows signs of vomiting or diarrhea

Monitor the pet and contact your veterinarian; they may recommend administering the tablet with a small amount of food to improve tolerance.

Infection symptoms return after treatment ends

Contact your veterinarian immediately as this may indicate the need for a longer course of treatment or a different antibiotic approach.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Administration: Consult your veterinarian for the exact dosage based on your pet's body weight. The tablets may be given with or without food, though giving them with a meal can help reduce potential gastrointestinal upset.
Storage: Store the medication in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children and other pets.
Compatibility: Inform your veterinarian about any other medications or supplements your pet is currently taking to avoid potential drug interactions.
Care: If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember, unless it is close to the next scheduled dose. Do not double the dose.
