Full details

The Halves Coffee Table in Brown is designed for individuals seeking a durable and sculptural piece of furniture that bridges indoor and outdoor living spaces. Its key benefit lies in its versatile materiality and unique geometric design, offering both a functional surface and a decorative element. A potential caveat is the material's tendency to develop a natural patina over time, which, while authentic, may not suit all aesthetic preferences. This coffee table is crafted from high-quality, cement-based terrazzo, featuring a distinctive double tray design. It is treated with a protective sealant, making it suitable for everyday use and both indoor and sheltered outdoor environments. The table's unique construction and mineral aspect, punctuated by natural splinters, ensure each piece is one-of-a-kind.

FAQs

What is terrazzo made of?

The Halves Coffee Table is made from cement-based terrazzo, which is a composite material consisting of marble, quartz, granite, or glass chips mixed with a binder like cement. It reveals a mineral aspect punctuated by natural splinters.

Can this table be used outdoors?

Yes, the table is treated with a protective water- and oil-repellent sealant and has plastic glides, making it suitable for sheltered outdoor spaces like terraces or patios. It is not designed for full exposure to harsh weather.

How do I clean the Halves Coffee Table?

Clean the surface with a soft, damp cloth. Wipe up spills immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals. For tougher stains, use a mild, pH-neutral soap solution and rinse thoroughly.

Will the color and texture of the table change over time?

Yes, the terrazzo material can develop a natural patina over time, reinforcing its authentic character. This aging process is considered part of the material's charm.

What are the dimensions of the coffee table?

Are there different color options available?

While this guide specifically covers the Brown variant, the Halves Coffee Table is also available in a soft off-white color.

Is assembly required?

No, the Halves Coffee Table does not require assembly. It is ready for use upon delivery.

Troubleshooting

Table surface has a slight imperfection or color variation.

This is a natural characteristic of terrazzo. Each piece has subtle variations in color and texture due to natural splinters, making every table unique. This is not a defect but a feature of the material.

Water or oil stains appear on the surface.

Wipe up spills immediately with a soft, damp cloth. If a stain persists, gently use a mild, pH-neutral soap solution and rinse thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

Table wobbles or feels unstable.

Ensure the table is placed on a level surface. Check that the plastic glides underneath are intact and properly seated. If the surface is uneven, consider placing a small, thin shim under one of the glides.

Matte finish or sealant appears dull after cleaning.

Ensure you are using a pH-neutral cleaner and avoiding harsh chemicals or abrasive pads. Always rinse the surface thoroughly after cleaning. Avoid furniture polishes unless specifically recommended for sealed terrazzo.

It dialogues well with materials such as concrete, linen, black metal, and natural textiles. For outdoor use, it is best suited for sheltered environments to preserve its finish and longevity.
