Tile Rite Big Spin Hurricane Tile Levelling System Starter Kit - 2mm - 3-15mm Tiles
The Tile Rite Big Spin Hurricane Tile Levelling System Starter Kit is a two-part spacer and cap sy...The Tile Rite Big Spin Hurricane Tile Levelling System Starter Kit is a two-part spacer and cap system designed to keep adjacent tiles flush during installation, preventing lippage while the adhesive cures. It is suitable for fitting large format porcelain, marble and stone tiles between 3mm and 15mm thick, on both walls and floors, and produces an even 2mm grout joint throughout the installation. The kit contains 150 spacer bases and 50 reusable caps. The spacer base sits between the tiles with its flat plate beneath them, and the cap is turned down onto the base to apply downward pressure that holds the tiles level with one another. Once the adhesive has set, the base snaps off at the grout line and the cap is removed for reuse on subsequent jobs. The Big Spin Hurricane caps and protection plates are interchangeable with the standard Big Spin levelling system, so additional bases, caps and accessories can be added as the job requires.
This Tile Rite Big Spin Hurricane Tile Levelling System Starter Kit is designed for DIY enthusiasts and professional tilers tackling large format porcelain, marble, and stone tiles on floors and walls. Its primary benefit is creating perfectly flush tiles, preventing unsightly lippage during adhesive curing, and ensuring a consistent 2mm grout joint. A potential consideration is the need for sufficient bases and caps for larger projects, as the starter kit contains a finite number.

FAQs
What is the main purpose of the Tile Rite Big Spin Hurricane system?
Its main purpose is to prevent 'lippage' (uneven tile edges) during adhesive curing, ensuring adjacent tiles remain perfectly flush and creating a consistent grout line.
What tile thickness can this system accommodate?
The system is designed for tiles ranging from 3mm to 15mm in thickness.
Can I reuse the spacer bases?
No, the spacer bases are single-use and are designed to snap off after the adhesive cures. The caps, however, are reusable.
What size grout joint does this system create?
This specific system is designed to create an even 2mm grout joint.
Are the caps compatible with other Tile Rite levelling systems?
Yes, the Big Spin Hurricane caps and protection plates are interchangeable with the standard Big Spin levelling system.
How many tiles can I level with the starter kit?
The starter kit contains 150 bases and 50 caps. The number of tiles you can level depends on the size of the tiles and how many edges need levelling simultaneously. For a 600x600mm tile, you would need 4 bases per tile (one for each edge meeting another tile).
What types of tiles can be used with this system?
It is suitable for large format porcelain, marble, and stone tiles.
Troubleshooting
Tiles are not staying level
Ensure the spacer base is correctly positioned under the edges of both tiles and that the cap is screwed down tightly to apply sufficient pressure. Check that the tile adhesive has not already set before applying the levelling system.
Spacer base won't snap off cleanly
Wait for the adhesive to fully cure. If still difficult, a light tap with a rubber mallet near the base might help, or carefully use a utility knife to score the base at the grout line before snapping.
Caps are difficult to screw on or off
Clean any excess adhesive or grout from the threads of both the cap and the base. Ensure the base is properly aligned with the cap before turning.
Uneven grout joints
Verify that the correct size spacer base (for a 2mm joint) is being used and that it is positioned consistently between all adjacent tiles.

Effectively prevents tile lippage for a professional finish.
Ensures consistent grout line width (2mm) for aesthetic uniformity.
Reusable caps reduce long-term costs.
Works with a wide range of tile thicknesses and materials.
Easy to install and remove, simplifying the tiling process.
Cons

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Apply tile adhesive to the substrate.
Place the first tile.
Insert a Tile Rite Big Spin Hurricane spacer base between the edge of the first tile and where the next tile will be placed. The flat plate of the base should sit underneath the edges of both tiles.
Place the second tile, ensuring its edge is flush with the first tile's edge and rests on the spacer base.
Screw a reusable Hurricane cap onto the spacer base, applying downward pressure until both tiles are level and the desired 2mm grout gap is achieved.
Repeat for all adjacent tile edges.
Allow the tile adhesive to cure fully according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Once cured, firmly twist or kick the spacer bases to snap them off at the grout line. Remove and store the reusable caps.
Compatibility:
Suitable for tiles between 3mm and 15mm thick.
Compatible with porcelain, marble, and stone tiles.
Big Spin Hurricane caps and protection plates are interchangeable with the standard Big Spin levelling system.
Care:
Clean the reusable caps after each use to ensure longevity and proper function. A damp cloth is usually sufficient. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
