FAQs
What is the primary difference between the DCD785 and DCH253 drills?
The DCD785 is a combi drill suitable for general drilling, screwdriving, and light hammer drilling in softer materials. The DCH253 is an SDS Hammer Drill specifically designed for high-impact drilling into concrete, brick, and masonry.
How long do the 4.0 Ah batteries typically last?
Battery life depends heavily on the application. For light tasks, a single charge can last for hours. For heavy-duty use like continuous hammer drilling, expect shorter runtimes, necessitating the use of the second included battery.
Can I use the DCH253 for drilling into wood or metal?
While technically possible with the appropriate SDS bits, the DCH253 is optimized for masonry. For wood and metal, the DCD785 combi drill with standard drill bits is generally more efficient and provides better control.
What kind of bits does the DCH253 SDS Hammer Drill use?
The DCH253 uses SDS-Plus bits, which are specifically designed for hammer drilling into concrete and masonry. These bits have a distinct slotted end that locks into the SDS chuck.
Is the Tstak VI Kitbox stackable with other Tstak modules?
Yes, the Tstak system is designed for modularity. The VI Kitbox can be securely stacked and interconnected with other Tstak modules for efficient storage and transport solutions.
What is the warranty period for this DeWALT twin pack?
DeWALT typically offers a standard manufacturer's warranty. For the most accurate and up-to-date warranty information, please refer to the product documentation or the official DeWALT website.
Troubleshooting
Drill won't turn on
Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly inserted into the tool. Check that the forward/reverse switch is not locked in the center position. Inspect the battery contacts for dirt or damage.
Reduced power or speed
The battery may be low; try a fully charged battery. Check for any blockages in the chuck or vents. For the SDS drill, ensure the correct mode (drill, hammer drill, or chisel) is selected.
Chuck is loose or won't tighten
Ensure no bit is currently in the chuck. Try tightening the chuck firmly. If the issue persists, the chuck mechanism may require servicing.
Excessive vibration (DCH253)
While the tool has low vibration, ensure you are using the correct bits for the material and that they are not damaged or bent. Ensure the side handle is securely attached for better control.
