Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup: Upon receiving the bike, it is recommended to have it professionally assembled or to carefully follow the manufacturer's instructions. This typically involves attaching the handlebars, pedals, front wheel, and seat post, followed by adjusting brakes and gears.
Compatibility: The 16-inch frame is generally suited for riders with an inside leg measurement of approximately 25-28 inches. The 26-inch wheels are standard for this type of mountain bike. Ensure any accessories purchased are compatible with standard bicycle fittings.
Care and Maintenance:
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the bike with a soft brush and mild soap, followed by rinsing and drying. Pay attention to the drivetrain, removing mud and grime.
- Lubrication: Keep the chain, derailleurs, and brake pivots lubricated with appropriate bicycle chain lube.
- Tire Pressure: Maintain recommended tire pressure for optimal performance and to prevent flats. Check the sidewall of the tires for the recommended PSI range.
- Brake and Gear Adjustment: Periodically check and adjust brakes and gears to ensure they are functioning correctly. Cables can stretch over time.
- Storage: Store the bike in a dry, sheltered place to prevent rust and corrosion.
