Setup, Compatibility & Care
To begin your cultivation, use a well-draining bonsai soil mix to prevent root rot. Keep the plant in a room where temperatures remain consistently above 15°C (60°F). Water the tree when the top layer of soil begins to feel dry, but ensure that water does not sit in the saucer. For care, keep the foliage clean by gently wiping the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust, which helps with photosynthesis. During the growing season, apply a balanced liquid bonsai fertilizer every two weeks. Avoid placing the pot near cold drafts, air conditioning vents, or heating radiators, as these will cause immediate stress to the plant.
