FAQs

Can I use this paint on materials other than model kits?

While designed for model kits, it can be used on other acrylic-compatible surfaces after testing for compatibility.

How do I thin the paint for airbrushing?

Use a dedicated acrylic thinner or water. The recommended ratio will vary depending on your airbrush and the desired effect; start with a small amount of thinner and adjust as needed.

How long does it take for the paint to dry?

Drying time depends on factors such as humidity and coat thickness. Generally, it will be dry to the touch within 30 minutes, but it's best to allow several hours or overnight for complete curing before handling or applying additional layers.

Can I mix this paint with other Tamiya acrylic colors?

Yes, Tamiya acrylic paints are designed to be mixed together to create custom colors.

What kind of brush is best for this paint?

Use a quality brush designed for acrylic paints. Synthetic brushes tend to work well and are easier to clean.

Is a primer necessary?

Priming is highly recommended for better adhesion and a smoother finish. It also helps the paint's true color to come through.

Troubleshooting

Paint is clumping or not adhering to the surface.

Ensure the model surface is properly cleaned and primed. Thin the paint appropriately before application. Apply thin coats and allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next.

Airbrush is sputtering or not spraying smoothly.

Clean the airbrush thoroughly, including the nozzle and needle. Ensure the paint is properly thinned. Check for any blockages in the airbrush.

  2. Application:
  • Brush: Use a quality brush and apply the paint in thin, even coats. Avoid overloading the brush.
