Product Information

Full details

The Profoto 50 Degree RFi Softgrid for the 90cm Octagonal Softbox is an essential tool for professional photographers and studio enthusiasts who require precise light control and spill elimination. It provides a focused 50-degree beam that allows for targeted illumination while preventing unwanted light from washing out your set or background. While it significantly enhances control, it is important to note that it requires an existing RFi Octagonal Softbox for attachment and will slightly reduce the overall light output intensity.

FAQs

Will this grid fit other brands of softboxes?

The Profoto RFi Softgrid is specifically engineered for the Profoto RFi range of softboxes and may not fit securely on third-party modifiers.

Does this grid block a lot of light?

Yes, using any grid will cause a slight reduction in total light output. You may need to increase your flash power or open your aperture slightly to compensate.

Can I use this with an RFi 120cm Octa?

No, this specific model is designed for the 90cm version. You should select the corresponding size grid for your specific softbox dimensions.

How do I store the grid to prevent damage?

Use the included labeled soft pouch provided with your purchase and store in a cool, dry environment away from sharp objects.

Is the grid flame retardant?

The Profoto RFi series uses professional-grade materials, but you should always ensure your light source is properly ventilated and not in direct contact with the fabric.

Troubleshooting

Grid appears sagging or loose

Ensure all Velcro strips are aligned correctly along the recessed edge of the softbox and pressed firmly into place.

Grid cells are misshapen

Lay the grid flat on a clean surface for a few minutes or gently reshape the cells by hand; avoid folding the grid too tightly during storage.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

The RFi Softgrid is designed for seamless integration with the Profoto RFi 90cm Octagonal Softbox. Since all RFi softboxes feature a recessed front design, the grid attaches easily by pressing the Velcro strips along the perimeter of the softbox front. To ensure the product remains in top condition, always fold the grid along its natural lines when storing it in the included soft pouch. Avoid bending or crushing the individual cells. If the fabric becomes dusty, clean it gently with a soft, dry brush or a slightly dampened cloth. Ensure the grid is completely dry before placing it back into storage to prevent mold or fabric degradation.
