Full details

The Vortex Solo 8x36 Monocular is designed for outdoor enthusiasts who need a compact and readily accessible optical tool for quick observation. Its key benefit is providing magnified, bright, and clear images in a lightweight, easy-to-handle package. Troubleshooting

Image is blurry or out of focus

Adjust the focus wheel located on the eyepiece until the image is sharp. Ensure the objective lens is clean.

Monocular feels loose on a belt

Ensure the belt or strap is within the clip's size limit and that the clip is fully engaged. Check the clip for damage or debris.

Internal fogging or water ingress

While nitrogen-filled and waterproof, extreme temperature changes can cause temporary condensation. Allow the monocular to acclimate to ambient temperature. If persistent fogging or leaks occur, contact Vortex customer support.

Reduced brightness or clarity

Clean both the objective lens and the eyepiece lens. Ensure no obstructions are present in the objective lens area.

Pros and Cons

Cons

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

The Vortex Solo 8x36 Monocular requires no complex setup. Its primary function is direct observation. The integral carry clip is designed to attach to standard belts, backpack straps, or webbing up to approximately 1.5 inches wide.

Compatibility:

This monocular is designed for direct viewing. Its compatibility is primarily with the user's eye. The 18mm eye relief makes it compatible with most eyeglass wearers. It does not interface with digital devices.

Care:

Cleaning Lenses: Use a lens cleaning cloth or pen specifically designed for optics. For tougher smudges, a lens cleaning solution can be applied sparingly to the cloth, never directly to the lens.
Body: Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
Storage: Store in a dry environment when not in use. The nitrogen-purging ensures it is protected from internal fogging.
Clip: Ensure the clip is clean and free of debris to maintain a secure attachment.
