Product Information
Full details
The Cokin P002 Orange Filter is a versatile tool designed primarily for black and white photography enthusiasts and architectural photographers looking to add dramatic contrast to their images. By effectively filtering light to darken blue skies and brighten reds and yellows, it brings out fine textures in masonry and adds impact to landscapes; however, users should be aware that it significantly alters color balance, making it less suitable for standard color-accurate portraiture.

FAQs
Can I use this filter with a digital camera?
Yes, the P002 is fully compatible with digital cameras, whether you are shooting in color or black and white modes.
Do I need a special holder for this filter?
Yes, this is a square filter that requires a Cokin P-series filter holder and an adapter ring sized for your specific lens diameter.
What is the filter made of?
It is crafted from CR39 organic glass, which is known for its durability and excellent optical clarity.
Will this filter affect color photos?
Yes, it will impart a strong orange/sepia cast to your color images. It is primarily designed for use in black and white photography.
How do I clean the filter?
Use a soft microfiber cloth. For stubborn spots, use a specialized optical lens cleaner, but avoid household glass cleaners which may damage the coating.
Troubleshooting
Visible vignetting at wide angles
Ensure the filter holder is not pushed too far back or use an ultra-wide angle specific adapter if the lens focal length is below 28mm.
Image appears too dark
The filter cuts specific wavelengths of light. Increase your exposure time or adjust your ISO/aperture to compensate for the light reduction.
Pros and Cons

- Significantly improves contrast in black and white photography
- Lightweight and durable CR39 organic glass construction
- Compatible with both film and digital camera systems
- Easy to use with the Cokin P-series square filter holder system
Cons
- Requires a separate filter holder and adapter ring
- Not suitable for natural-looking color photography
- Square filters require careful handling to avoid fingerprints
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To use the Cokin P002, you must first attach a compatible Cokin P-series adapter ring to your camera lens and secure the filter holder onto the ring. Once the holder is mounted, simply slide the 84 x 84mm P002 filter into one of the slots. The filter is compatible with any lens setup that can accommodate the P-series system. To ensure longevity, store the filter in a protective pouch when not in use. Clean the filter only with a high-quality microfiber lens cloth; if significant smudges occur, use a mild lens cleaning solution specifically formulated for optical glass or organic resins, ensuring you avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the CR39 surface.
