FAQs

What does RCBO stand for?

RCBO stands for Residual Current Breaker with Overcurrent protection.

What is the purpose of an RCBO?

An RCBO protects against short circuits, overloads, and earth leakage faults, ensuring electrical safety.

What is a B curve?

The B curve indicates the RCBO's tripping characteristics, suitable for low inrush current applications.

How often should I test the RCBO?

Test the RCBO at least every six months using the test button.

Where should the RCBO be installed?

The RCBO should be installed in a BG Fortress consumer unit.

What should I do if the RCBO trips?

First, switch off the appliance and clear the fault. Then reset the RCBO.

Can I replace the RCBO myself?

Installation and replacement of electrical components should ideally be performed by a qualified electrician to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.

What is the breaking capacity?

The breaking capacity is 6kA, which indicates the maximum fault current the RCBO can safely interrupt.

Troubleshooting

RCBO trips frequently.

Check for faulty appliances or wiring issues in the circuit. If no faults are found, the RCBO may be overloaded. Reduce the load or consult an electrician.

RCBO won't reset after tripping.

Ensure the fault is cleared. If the RCBO still won't reset, it may be faulty and needs to be replaced.

Test button doesn't work.

The RCBO may be faulty and requires replacement.
