Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Ensure the blade (iron) is securely locked in place after adjusting the depth and alignment. The plane is typically ready for use out of the box, but a quick check of the blade's sharpness and setup is recommended.
Compatibility: This block plane is a general-purpose woodworking tool and is compatible with most types of wood. Its effectiveness is best realized on end grain or for fine shaving removal.
Care: Keep the sole of the plane clean and free from debris. After use, it is advisable to lightly oil the iron to prevent rust, especially in humid conditions. Store the plane in a dry place. The cutting edge should be kept sharp for optimal performance; sharpening may be required periodically based on usage.
