Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Cut the timber to your required dimensions using standard woodworking saws. Fixings such as screws or nails designed for treated timber should be used. Ensure all cut ends are properly sealed with an appropriate wood preservative to maintain the treatment's integrity. When used as decking joists, ensure adequate spacing between them (typically 400mm-600mm centers, depending on decking board thickness and load requirements) and secure them to supporting structures with appropriate joist hangers or brackets.
Compatibility: This timber is compatible with standard woodworking tools and fixings. It can be combined with other treated softwood or construction-grade timber. Ensure fixings are corrosion-resistant (e.g., galvanized or stainless steel) as they will be exposed to outdoor elements.
Care: While pressure-treated, it is recommended to apply a suitable wood stain, sealant, or paint to the timber for aesthetic purposes and additional protection against UV rays and surface moisture. Regularly inspect the timber for any signs of wear or damage. Keep the area around the timber clear of debris and vegetation to allow for air circulation and prevent moisture build-up. Store any unused timber flat in a dry, well-ventilated area, off the ground, to prevent warping.
