Setup, Compatibility & Care
Initial Setup: As with any new bicycle, it is recommended to have the Trek Checkpoint ALR professionally assembled and tuned by a qualified bike mechanic to ensure optimal performance and safety. This includes proper torquing of bolts, adjustment of gears and brakes, and setting of saddle height.
Compatibility: The bike is designed to accommodate tires up to 50mm wide, offering flexibility for different riding conditions. It uses standard bicycle components for easy replacement and upgrades. Ensure any accessories like racks or fenders are compatible with the frame mounts.
Care and Maintenance:
- Cleaning: Regularly clean the frame, drivetrain, and wheels with water and mild soap. Avoid high-pressure washing of bearings.
- Lubrication: Keep the drivetrain clean and lubricated, especially after riding in wet or dirty conditions.
- Brakes: Periodically check brake pad wear and rotor cleanliness. Ensure hydraulic brakes are functioning correctly.
- Tires: Maintain proper tire pressure based on the tire’s recommended range and your riding conditions.
- Storage: Store the bike in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
