Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Place the heat mat on the outside bottom of the terrarium, typically covering one-third to one-half of the surface area.
- Connect the heat mat to the thermostat and place the thermostat probe on the substrate surface directly above the heated area inside the terrarium.
- Add the provided substrate to the terrarium floor.
- Place the hide and water dish on the substrate. Position the water dish in the cooler end of the enclosure.
- Insert the thermometer probe or place the digital thermometer display in the center of the enclosure to monitor ambient temperature.
- Plug in the thermostat and heat mat, setting the thermostat to the desired temperature for the warm side.
Compatibility:
This kit is designed for small, terrestrial snakes that do not require high humidity. It is generally suitable for species such as: corn snakes, milk snakes, king snakes, and ball python hatchlings. Ensure the specific temperature and humidity requirements for your chosen snake species are met; the included components are a baseline and may need supplementation for species with unique needs.
Care:
- Daily: Check temperature and humidity, spot clean any waste, and ensure the water dish is clean and full.
- Weekly: Clean the water dish thoroughly. Wipe down the terrarium interior and accessories with a reptile-safe disinfectant. Replace substrate if heavily soiled.
- Monthly: A more thorough cleaning of the terrarium and all accessories is recommended. Replace substrate as needed. Ensure the heat mat and thermostat are functioning correctly.
