FAQs

Can I access the battery compartment with the plate installed?

The plate is designed to provide access to necessary ports, though users may need to check the specific clearance based on the battery door hinge position.

Is the wooden handle removable?

The handle is integrated into the structure for maximum stability and is not intended to be removed during regular use.

Does this plate interfere with the tilt screen on the Nikon ZR?

The mount is designed to maintain the functionality of the Nikon ZR's screen, though users should ensure no bulky accessories are mounted in the way of the hinge.

What is the magnetic tool used for?

The magnetic wrench is used to tighten or loosen the base mounting screw, allowing you to attach or remove the plate without needing a coin or screwdriver.

Will this fit other camera models?

No, this plate is custom-molded specifically for the geometry of the Nikon ZR to ensure a perfect fit.

Troubleshooting

The camera feels loose after mounting.

Ensure the bottom mounting screw is tightened fully using the integrated magnetic flat wrench.

Plate does not slide smoothly onto the tripod head.

Check the Arca-Swiss clamp for debris and ensure the plate is aligned correctly with the dovetail groove.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Significantly improved handling for handheld shooting
High-quality construction using aluminum and premium wood
Seamless Arca-Swiss mounting system for tripods and gimbals
Integrated magnetic wrench ensures you are never without your tools
Versatile mounting options for external accessories

Cons

Adds a small amount of width to the compact Nikon ZR body
Wooden grip may show wear differently than metal surfaces over time
Requires removing the plate for full access to battery door in some configurations

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To attach the plate, align it with the base of your Nikon ZR and secure it using the integrated screw. Use the magnetic flat wrench stored on the bottom to ensure the mount is snug and stable.

Compatibility: Specifically engineered for the Nikon ZR. Ensure the bottom of the camera is clean before mounting to prevent scratches.
Care: Keep the wooden handle dry and free of oils to maintain its grip. Periodically check the mounting screw for tightness. If the wood appears dry over time, a light application of furniture-grade wax or oil can help maintain its appearance.
