Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Setting up your Hotpoint HTG6GDCW gas cooker requires professional installation by a Gas Safe registered engineer in the UK, or equivalent certified professional in other regions. This is crucial for safety and to ensure compliance with local regulations. The cooker is designed as a freestanding unit and should be positioned in a stable, level location with adequate ventilation. Ensure the gas supply line is accessible and correctly fitted. Do not attempt to install or connect the gas supply yourself.
Compatibility
This cooker is a standard 60cm width freestanding appliance, compatible with most kitchen layouts that accommodate this size. It requires a mains gas supply. For optimal hob performance, use flat-bottomed cookware suitable for gas hobs.
Care
Maintaining your cooker ensures its longevity and performance:
- Oven Cleaning (Catalytic Liners): The catalytic liners in the main oven are self-cleaning to an extent. For best results, regularly run the oven at a high temperature (e.g., 200-220°C) for about 30-60 minutes after cooking. This helps to burn off grease and food residue. For heavy spills, allow the oven to cool, then gently wipe away loose debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners on the liners as this can damage them.
- Hob and Pan Supports: Allow the hob and pan supports to cool completely before cleaning. The matt enamel pan supports can be wiped with a damp cloth and mild detergent. For stubborn stains, a non-abrasive cream cleaner can be used. Ensure they are thoroughly dry before replacing. The burner caps and bases can be removed and washed with warm soapy water.
- Exterior Surfaces: Wipe down the white exterior with a soft, damp cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the finish.
- Glass Lid: Clean the glass lid with a glass cleaner or warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Ensure it is completely dry before lowering it.
