Product Information

Full details

The FloPlast Industrial Xtraflo Gutter Union is designed for professional contractors and serious DIYers who need a secure, long-lasting connection for industrial guttering systems. Its primary benefit is the combination of an easy, snap-in installation process with an integrated thermal expansion mechanism that prevents joint failure over time. While highly reliable, users should note that the unit requires precise alignment and specific lubrication during setup to ensure the integrity of the rubber seals.

FAQs

Do I need any special tools for installation?

You will need a drill/driver for the countersunk screws and a silicone lubricant spray for the rubber seals.

What is the purpose of the internal insertion marks?

The marks indicate how far the gutter should be inserted to leave enough room for thermal expansion and contraction.

Can I use this with standard domestic guttering?

No, the SL40 is specifically designed for the Xtraflo industrial gutter range.

Is the rubber seal replaceable?

The seal is integrated into the unit design; if the seal is damaged, the entire union should be replaced.

How many screws are required per bracket?

Each bracket is fixed to the fascia using two countersunk screws.

Troubleshooting

Gutter is difficult to click into the front clip

Verify that the gutter is properly seated on the back edge and apply a small amount of silicone spray to the seal.

Joint appears to be leaking

Check that the gutter ends are correctly aligned with the internal insertion marks and ensure the rubber seal has not been displaced.

Bracket feels loose on the fascia

Ensure that countersunk screws are driven fully flush into the bracket body and that the underlying timber or substrate is structurally sound.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Integrated insertion marks ensure correct thermal expansion gap
Quick snap-clip front assembly
Consistent, leak-proof rubber sealing
Robust industrial-grade construction

Cons

Requires precise measurement for proper expansion
Requires silicone spray for optimal seal performance
Limited to specific Xtraflo industrial gutter profiles

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install the SL40, first ensure your fascia board is level and free of debris. Secure the bracket through the two provided countersunk mounting holes. Once the bracket is fixed to the fascia, place the back edge of the gutter into the bracket groove, then firmly pull the front edge down until the mechanical clip snaps into position.

Compatibility is strictly limited to FloPlast Xtraflo industrial gutter profiles. For maintenance, periodically inspect the brackets for debris buildup and ensure the rubber gaskets remain supple. We recommend a light re-application of silicone lubricant annually if the environment is prone to extreme drying conditions.
