Setup, Compatibility & Care
Planting: Choose a location that receives full sun. Ensure the soil is fertile, moist, but well-drained. Plant the 9cm pot herb as you would any other young perennial.
Watering: Keep the plant well watered, particularly during warm or dry periods. Avoid letting the soil completely dry out.
Winter Care: Lovage is fully hardy but dislikes winter wet. As the plant dies down in winter, protect the base from excessive moisture. Using a cloche can help keep the crown dry. Ensure good drainage around the plant to prevent root rot.
Soil: Prefers rich, moisture-retentive soil. Amend with compost if your soil is poor.
Harvesting: Harvest leaves and stems as needed from June until the first frost. Seeds can be harvested when ripe.
