FAQs
Can this leash be used for a puppy?
While durable, the leash is designed for adult dogs. For puppies, ensure they do not chew on the leash, as it can be damaged. Consider a leash with a smaller clip if your puppy has a very small collar.
How do I clean the padded handle?
The padded handle can be spot-cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. Ensure it is fully air-dried.
What is the benefit of the Talon Clip™?
The Talon Clip™ is designed for exceptional strength and a secure connection, offering peace of mind that it won't detach accidentally.
Is the reflective material durable?
Yes, the reflective strands are integrated into the webbing and are designed to be durable for the lifespan of the leash, providing visibility in low-light conditions.
What is the length and width of the leash?
The leash is 6 feet (1.8 meters) long and 1 inch (25 mm) wide.
Can I use this leash for strong pullers?
The leash is built for durability and strength, but for very strong pullers, proper training is always recommended. The Talon Clip™ provides a secure connection, but the primary control comes from training and the dog's equipment.
What does 'bluesign® approved' mean for the handle mesh?
'bluesign® approved' indicates that the materials used in the handle mesh meet strict environmental, health, and safety standards, ensuring responsible production.
Troubleshooting
Talon Clip™ feels difficult to open or close.
Ensure the clip is clean and free of debris. Operate it smoothly; it may require a firm, deliberate action until you are accustomed to its mechanism.
Webbing appears faded after extended use.
While the webbing is designed to hold its color, prolonged exposure to strong UV rays can cause fading. This is primarily cosmetic and does not affect the strength of the leash. Store the leash out of direct sunlight when not in use.
Leash feels too long for close-quarters control.
For shorter control, you can hold the leash closer to the clip or double it over, ensuring a secure grip.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Attach the Ruffwear Talon Clip™ securely to your dog's collar or harness D-ring.
- For hands-free use, unclip the Talon Clip™ from the leash end and loop the leash around your waist, re-attaching the clip to the other end of the leash to form a loop. Ensure the buckle is securely fastened.
- For hand-held use, simply hold the padded handle.
Compatibility:
The Talon Clip™ is designed to connect to standard D-rings found on most dog collars and harnesses. The 1-inch width webbing is suitable for most adult dogs.
Care:
- Hand wash with mild detergent.
- Air dry completely.
- Avoid machine washing or drying, as this can damage the materials and hardware.
