FAQs
Does the net come with a handle?
Yes, the net is supplied with a handle integrated into the structure, designed specifically for the folding mechanism.
Is the mesh fish-friendly?
Yes, the material is designed to be soft and protective to minimize stress to the fish during landing.
How do I maintain the magnets?
Simply wipe them clean with a damp cloth after each trip to prevent sediment accumulation.
Can I replace the mesh separately?
While the mesh is durable, it is recommended to contact Wychwood support if you require a replacement part to ensure the correct fit.
Is this net suitable for boat fishing?
While designed for roving bank anglers, it works well on a boat due to its compact nature, provided the handle length suits your vessel setup.
Troubleshooting
Folding mechanism feels stiff
Clean any debris or grit from the hinge and apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant.
Magnet not holding the mesh securely
Ensure the magnetic points on the mesh and spreader block are free of dirt or mud, as build-up can weaken the magnetic pull.
Net feels unstable when extended
Check that the locking collar on the handle is fully tightened and that the spreader block is securely fitted to the handle shaft.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Extremely compact and easy to carry during long sessions
- Quick-deployment mechanism saves time when landing fish
- Durable, high-strength spreader block construction
- Hygiene-focused mesh reduces water retention and odor
- Magnetic attachment system prevents frustrating snagging
Cons
- Not intended for heavy-duty commercial fishing environments
- Requires proper maintenance to keep the folding mechanism smooth
- Larger sizes may feel slightly heavier when fully extended
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To set up the net, simply extend the handle and click the folding mechanism into its locked position. Ensure the magnetic clips are aligned when the net is collapsed for transit to prevent damage to the mesh. For care, always rinse the mesh with clean water after use to remove debris. Because of the shake-dry properties, hang the net in a well-ventilated area to ensure it is completely dry before storing it in a bag. Avoid forcing the folding hinge if it becomes stiff; apply a light lubricant if necessary to maintain smooth operation.
