Full details

The Matrix Pole Winder Tray is designed for competitive and recreational pole anglers looking to streamline their terminal tackle organization. This robust moulded tray provides a structured home for 12 x 180mm winders, ensuring your rigs remain tangle-free and easily accessible during intense fishing sessions. FAQs

Can I fit longer rigs in this tray?

The winders are specifically 180mm in length. While you can store longer rigs by double-wrapping, it is recommended to use appropriately sized winders for different rig lengths to prevent line memory.

Will this fit in non-Matrix brand drawers?

The tray is designed for Matrix drawers. While it may fit other brands, we recommend measuring your drawer compartment against the tray dimensions to ensure a proper fit.

Are the winders removable?

Yes, each of the 12 winders is individually removable using the integrated grip tab on the end.

Does the tray come with spare pins?

The tray comes as a complete unit with the 12 winders pre-fitted; spare parts are generally not provided separately.

Can I use these winders for heavy-duty line?

Yes, the robust design of the winders is suitable for both commercial and natural style rigs, including heavier line diameters.

Troubleshooting

Winder feels loose in the tray

Ensure the tray is resting on a flat, level surface and that there are no obstructions under the base of the tray.

Line is slipping off the winder

Adjust the sliding rig anchor tensioner to provide a firmer grip on your rig line, or check that your hook is properly seated in the retainer.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Durable, rugged construction for long-term use
Optimized storage for up to 12 individual rigs
Easy-grip tabs facilitate quick rig changes
High-visibility color scheme for rapid identification
Designed for seamless integration with existing Matrix storage

Cons

Specific 180mm size may not fit all generic tackle box compartments
Limited to 12 winders per tray, potentially requiring multiple units for large collections
Fixed layout means the tray cannot be reconfigured for different winder sizes

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To integrate this tray into your setup, simply slide the unit into your designated Matrix shallow drawer. Ensure the tray is pushed flush against the back or side walls to prevent sliding during transit. To maintain the life of your winders and rigs, avoid over-tensioning the hook retainers, as this can weaken your line over time. Keep the tray out of direct, prolonged exposure to extreme heat when not in use to maintain the structural integrity of the plastic. After a session in the rain, wipe the winders down with a dry cloth to prevent moisture buildup inside the tray, which can lead to corrosion on your hook points.
