FAQs

What is the maximum weight capacity of the Manfrotto 098B?

The maximum weight capacity is 4.5 kg (9.9 lbs) at full extension.

What is the material of the wall boom?

The wall boom is constructed from Aluminium.

What type of mount does it use?

It uses a 5/8" female socket and a 5/8" double-ended stud for attachments.

What are the rotation angles?

It rotates 160° vertically and 180° horizontally.

Can I mount this on any wall?

It requires secure mounting to a strong, stable wall capable of supporting the load. Professional installation with appropriate hardware is recommended for drywall or weaker structures.

Does it come with mounting hardware for the wall?

The product description does not specify included wall mounting hardware. Users should select hardware appropriate for their specific wall type.

Troubleshooting

Boom arm sags significantly at full extension.

Verify the attached equipment does not exceed the 4.5kg maximum weight capacity. Ensure the boom is mounted securely to a stable wall. Consider retracting the arm slightly for heavier loads.

Mounting hardware feels loose.

Check and tighten all screws and bolts securing the boom to the wall. If the wall itself is the issue, consult a professional for reinforcement or appropriate anchors.

Movement is stiff or difficult.

Inspect the pivot points for debris. Gently clean with a dry cloth. Avoid applying lubricants unless specified by the manufacturer, as they can attract dust.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: The Manfrotto 098B requires secure mounting to a sturdy wall. Ensure the wall material (e.g., concrete, brick, or reinforced stud) can support the weight of the boom and its attached equipment, especially under load and when extended. Use appropriate heavy-duty wall anchors or mounting hardware, which may need to be purchased separately based on your wall type. The boom attaches via its 5/8" female socket or the included 5/8" double-ended stud.

Compatibility: This boom arm is compatible with any lighting fixture, camera bracket, or accessory that utilizes a standard 5/8" (16mm) stud or socket mount. This includes most professional strobes, continuous lights, flags, and smaller camera rigs.

Care: To maintain performance, regularly check mounting hardware for tightness. Clean the aluminium surfaces with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners. Periodically test the arm's movement and ensure all locking mechanisms function correctly.
