The B&Q C16 CLS Studwork Timber is designed for professional builders and DIY enthusiasts who require reliable, structural-grade wood for internal wall framing and partition construction. Its key benefit is the C16 structural grading, which provides guaranteed load-bearing capabilities and consistent dimensions for a stable build. The main caveat to keep in mind is that while it is ideal for internal framing, users must ensure appropriate treatment or exterior-grade protection if planning to use it in damp or exposed environmental conditions.

C16 is a structural grade indicating the timber has been tested for strength, stiffness, and density, making it suitable for load-bearing applications in construction.
No, this product is intended for internal use and is not pressure-treated for exterior or ground-contact use.
You must consult a structural engineer or local building regulations to determine if 38mm x 89mm is sufficient for your specific span and load requirements.
Yes, 89mm is a standard depth that accommodates most 75mm or 80mm thick mineral wool batt insulation perfectly.
Store them flat, raised off the ground on timber battens, and cover them with a breathable tarp to allow airflow while protecting them from moisture.
Minor bowing is natural in timber; ensure it is secured correctly to the top and bottom plates to straighten it during installation.
Always pre-drill pilot holes when screwing near the ends of the timber to prevent the grain from splitting.
To ensure the longevity of your build, always store the timber in a cool, dry place off the ground before installation to prevent moisture absorption. During setup, use appropriate wood screws or structural nails to maintain the integrity of the C16 grade. When cutting, always use a sharp blade to maintain clean edges and wear protective eyewear. If used in areas near bathrooms or kitchens, apply a suitable wood preservative or sealant to the ends to protect against humidity. Regularly check your frame for signs of movement if the building is new and undergoing settling.
