Product Information

Full details

The VEVOR 16-piece Blind Hole Bearing Puller Set is an essential tool for automotive mechanics, DIY enthusiasts, and industrial technicians who need to extract inner bearing races, bushings, and seals from blind housings. This versatile kit offers the dual benefit of inertia-based removal via a sliding hammer and controlled extraction via a U-shaped counterstay, ensuring compatibility with tight, restricted spaces. While it is built for durability and high-stress applications, users should note that selecting the correct collet size for each specific bearing diameter is critical to avoid potential slippage during the extraction process.

FAQs

What is the maximum bearing size this kit can handle?

The kit is designed to accommodate bearings or bushings ranging from 1/4 inch to 2-1/3 inches (6-59 mm).

What material are the collets made of?

The collets are crafted from high-temperature quenched Cr40 steel, known for its high hardness and wear resistance.

Can I use this for external bearing removal?

No, this set is specifically designed as a blind hole bearing puller for internal races and seals.

How do I choose between the sliding hammer and the counterstay?

Use the sliding hammer for bearings that are extremely stuck and require impact force. Use the counterstay for delicate jobs or narrow spaces where precise, non-impact extraction is required.

Does the set include a storage case?

The set is organized to include all 16 pieces, including collets and the hammer, intended for use as a comprehensive kit.

Troubleshooting

The collet slips out of the bearing bore

Ensure the center bolt is tightened sufficiently to fully expand the collet against the inner surface of the bearing race.

The bearing does not move with the sliding hammer

Apply penetrating oil to the bearing race and let it sit for several minutes to break down rust or oxidation before attempting to pull again.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Comprehensive coverage for bearing diameters 6-59 mm
High-grade Cr40 steel ensures tool longevity
Dual-mode extraction allows for flexibility in various engine or machine setups
Effective for both blind and internal bearing extraction

Cons

Requires careful alignment to prevent collet damage
The 3.1 lbs sliding hammer may be light for extremely seized heavy-duty industrial bearings
The large number of parts requires organized storage to avoid loss

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure peak performance, follow these guidelines:

Setup: Select the appropriate collet size that fits the bearing bore snugly. Expand the collet fully once inserted by tightening the center bolt before attaching the hammer or counterstay.
Compatibility: This tool is compatible with most standard inner races and bushings within the 6-59 mm range. Always verify the inner diameter before selecting a collet to prevent thread stripping.
Care: Keep the threads of the bolt and collets clean and lightly lubricated with machine oil. Store the set in a dry place, and inspect the Cr40 steel components periodically for any signs of surface wear or cracking before beginning a high-tension extraction.
