Setup, Compatibility & Care
Before installing the NGK BR5HS (3722), verify that your vehicle manual or engine documentation specifically lists this part number. Compatibility is paramount to preventing engine damage.
- Preparation: Ensure the engine is completely cool before removing the old spark plug to prevent damage to the cylinder head threads.
- Installation: Remove the old plug and inspect the ignition wire or coil boot for damage. Thread the new BR5HS plug in by hand first to ensure it is not cross-threaded, then use a torque wrench to tighten to the manufacturer's specified setting.
- Gap Verification: While the plug comes with a pre-set gap of 0.024, always use a spark plug gapping tool to confirm the measurement matches your specific engine’s service manual requirements.
- Care: Keep the engine area free of debris and dirt to prevent contaminants from entering the combustion chamber when the plug is removed.
