Full details

The Nike Therma-Fit Academy Gloves are designed for soccer players who need to maintain performance during cold-weather training and matches. By utilizing advanced heat-trapping technology and specialized grip patterns, these gloves ensure your hands stay warm and your ball handling remains precise, even in damp conditions. While they are highly effective for thermal insulation, players should note that they are not designed for extreme arctic conditions or prolonged submersion in water.

FAQs

Are these gloves waterproof?

They are designed to handle damp conditions and light rain, but they are not fully waterproof and will soak through if submerged.

Can I use these for other sports?

Yes, while designed for soccer, the grip and warmth make them suitable for any outdoor activity where manual dexterity and insulation are needed.

How do I choose the right size?

The gloves are designed with a stretchy fit. Ensure a snug feel without restricting blood flow; if you are between sizes, consider your preferred level of tightness.

Do they work with touchscreens?

These gloves are primarily performance-focused for sports; while some touchscreens might register, they are not optimized for smartphone use.

Should I wash them after every use?

If used in light training, airing them out is usually sufficient. Wash them when they become visibly soiled or develop a persistent odor.

Troubleshooting

Gloves feel slippery in wet conditions

Wipe the silicone palms with a damp cloth to remove any accumulated dirt or debris that may interfere with the grip.

Gloves lose their elasticity

Avoid machine drying; always air dry, as heat exposure permanently damages the elastic fibers in the cuffs.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Excellent heat retention for cold weather
  • High-grip silicone palm enhances ball control
  • Snug fit prevents slippage during matches
  • Lightweight construction preserves hand dexterity

Cons

  • Not waterproof for heavy rain or total submersion
  • Limited protection against impact or friction
  • Minimal wrist coverage compared to full-gauntlet styles

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure the longevity of your Nike Therma-Fit Academy Gloves, follow these care instructions:

  1. Cleaning: Hand wash in cool water using a mild detergent. Avoid harsh chemicals or fabric softeners that may degrade the silicone grip.
  2. Drying: Air dry only. Do not place them in a tumble dryer or on a direct heat source like a radiator, as excessive heat can damage the fabric elasticity.
  3. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Avoid keeping them wadded up in a wet gym bag for extended periods to prevent odor buildup.
  4. Compatibility: These gloves are designed to be low-profile and compatible with most soccer kits, easily fitting under long-sleeve jerseys or base layers.
