Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Drilling: Use the provided HSS drill bit to enlarge the damaged hole to the correct size.
- Checking: Ensure the hole is clean and ready for tapping.
- Tapping: Use the HSS thread tap to create new threads within the drilled hole.
- Installing the Insert: Screw the stainless steel insert into the newly tapped threads using the installation tool.
- Tang Removal: Break off the tang from the insert using the provided tang breaking tool.
Compatibility:
This kit is specifically designed for repairing 3/8" x 26 BSC (British Standard Cycle) internal threads. Ensure this is the correct thread size and type for your application before use. It is most effective in softer materials like aluminum, cast iron, and mild steel.
Care:
- After each use, clean all tools thoroughly to remove metal shavings and debris.
- Store all components back in their designated slots in the blow-molded case.
- Keep the case in a dry environment to prevent corrosion of the tools and inserts.
- Regularly inspect tools for any signs of damage or wear and replace if necessary.
