FAQs

Is this rod suitable for beginners?

While a beginner can use it, the Longbow X45 is a high-performance tool designed for experienced anglers who can maximize the benefits of its advanced casting technology.

Can I use this rod for spodding?

No, this is a dedicated fishing rod. For spodding, please refer to the Daiwa Longbow X45 M 12ft 4.5lb Spod variant.

What does the 3lb test curve mean?

The 3lb test curve refers to the weight required to bend the rod tip at a 90-degree angle to the butt, indicating the power and suitability for casting weights between 2.5oz and 3.5oz effectively.

Where is the Daiwa Longbow X45 manufactured?

This model is designed and built in the United Kingdom.

How should I clean the shrink grip?

Use a damp, soft sponge with a very mild soap solution if necessary, then pat dry. Avoid scrubbing with abrasive brushes.

Troubleshooting

Joint sections not seating correctly

Clean the male and female joints thoroughly with a clean, dry cloth to remove any debris or dust.

Line tangling around the tip guide during casting

Check the guide for any hairline cracks or alignment issues; ensure you are not using line that is too thin or 'springy' for the guide size.

Reel movement in the seat

Ensure the reel foot is fully seated and the locking collar is tightened firmly. If it persists, check if the reel foot is damaged.

Pros and Cons

Seamless power transfer through V-Joint Alpha technology
Professional-grade build quality designed and manufactured in the UK

3lb test curve may feel stiff to anglers used to soft-action rods
High-performance components require careful handling to avoid impact damage
Premium technology results in a higher price point than entry-level models

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure optimal performance, pair this rod with a high-quality big-pit reel featuring a smooth, reliable drag system. When assembling, ensure the spigot joint is pushed firmly together, but avoid forcing it; a light clean of the joint with a dry cloth will keep the connection smooth.

Cleaning: Wipe the blank down with a damp cloth after every session to remove silt and grit. Avoid using chemical cleaners.
Transportation: Always store the rod in a padded sleeve or hard case to protect the Seaguide TDG rings, which are lightweight and can be prone to bending if struck against hard surfaces.
Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve the integrity of the Japanese shrink grip and the carbon resin.
