FAQs
Can I use the Fidlock base with my existing water bottle cage?
The Fidlock base is designed specifically for TWIST-compatible accessories, though it uses standard bottle cage mounting points.
Is the toolbox waterproof?
It is made of water-repellent materials, meaning it handles road spray and rain well, but it is not fully submersible.
What is the maximum weight the toolbox can hold?
The maximum recommended weight capacity is 500g to ensure a secure magnetic lock during riding.
Does it come with tools inside?
No, the toolbox is sold as an empty storage container, allowing you to customize the contents to your specific needs.
Will this fit on a mountain bike frame?
Yes, as long as your mountain bike frame has standard M5 threaded bottle cage bosses.
Troubleshooting
Toolbox does not lock securely to the bike base
Ensure there is no dirt or debris interfering with the magnetic connection points and check that the bike base is tightened flush to the frame.
Difficulty removing the toolbox
Apply a slight twisting motion in the direction indicated by the release mechanism; do not pull straight outward with extreme force.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Secure magnetic locking mechanism prevents rattling on rough terrain
- Clean, cage-less look maintains the bicycle's aesthetic
- Easy to remove and reattach with one hand
- Weather-resistant construction keeps contents dry
Cons
- Maximum weight capacity is limited to 500g
- Requires existing bottle cage threaded inserts on the bike frame
- May not fit extra-large smartphone models alongside full tool kits
Setup, Compatibility & Care
Installation is straightforward as the provided bike base attaches directly to your frame's existing threaded bottle cage bosses using the included hardware. Once installed, simply align the magnetic mount on the toolbox with the bike base to lock it into position. To care for the toolbox, wipe the outer nylon shell with a damp cloth after muddy rides to maintain its water-repellent properties. Do not submerge the unit in water for extended periods, and check the tightness of the mounting screws on your bike frame periodically to ensure the magnetic connection remains stable.
