This tool is designed for standard electrical cabinet metal; it is recommended for use on mild steel up to 3mm thick.
Yes, a pilot hole is required to insert the draw stud through the metal panel before you can begin the punching process.
It is optimized for mild steel and aluminum. While it may punch thin stainless steel, it will significantly reduce the lifespan of the dies.
The unit is pre-filled for operation; however, keep a small bottle of hydraulic fluid on hand for future maintenance.
Turn the release valve knob slowly counter-clockwise to allow the cylinder to retract.
Check if the pressure release valve is fully closed. If the valve is loose, the hydraulic pressure will not build up.
Ensure the punch and die are perfectly aligned and the draw stud is tightened completely before beginning the hydraulic stroke.
Inspect the seals for damage and ensure all hydraulic connections are tight. If leaking persists, contact support regarding internal seal integrity.
To set up the tool, ensure you have the correct die size selected for your specific conduit diameter. Screw the draw stud securely into the hydraulic cylinder, slide on the die, and tighten the assembly until it is snug against the metal. Always check that the metal surface is clean of debris before starting the punch. For maintenance, keep the draw studs and die threads lightly lubricated to prevent seizing. Wipe the hydraulic cylinder after each use to remove metal shavings, and store the entire kit in its designated case to prevent oxidation and loss of small components.
