The Ciano Stop Algae Red Cartridge XL is a specialized chemical filtration media designed for aquarium hobbyists using Ciano CFBIO XL filters. It effectively targets and removes excess nitrates and phosphates—the primary nutrients that fuel algae growth—to help maintain a clear and healthy aquatic environment. While it is an essential maintenance tool for both coldwater and tropical setups, it requires proactive replacement every 45 days to remain effective at controlling nutrient levels.

You should replace the cartridge every 45 days to ensure the chemical media continues to effectively adsorb nutrients.
No, this product is specifically formulated and intended for freshwater, coldwater, and tropical aquarium use only.
It reduces the nutrients that algae thrive on, but it is not a replacement for proper lighting, tank hygiene, and regular water changes.
The app allows you to log your filter media and provides real-time monitoring and automated alerts when it is time to renew your cartridges.
A quick rinse in tap-water-free aquarium water is recommended to remove any loose particles from the manufacturing process before installation.
Ensure the cartridge has not exceeded the 45-day lifespan and check that your lighting duration is not too long, as excess light also promotes algae growth.
Verify that your filter model is part of the Ciano CFBIO XL range; this cartridge is not designed for standard or smaller Ciano internal filters.
To install, simply slide the XL cartridge into the designated slot within your Ciano CFBIO XL filter housing. Ensure the cartridge is seated correctly to avoid bypass, where water flows around rather than through the media.
