Setup, Compatibility & Care
Compatibility Check: Before installation, it is *crucial* to confirm that the NGK ZMR7AP (6914) is the correct spark plug for your specific vehicle's make, model, year, and engine type. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual or a reputable parts catalog. Failure to use the correct spark plug can result in engine damage.
Installation:
- Ensure the engine is cool.
- Carefully remove the spark plug wire or coil pack from the old spark plug.
- Using a spark plug socket wrench, unscrew and remove the old spark plug.
- Check the gap on the new NGK ZMR7AP (6914) and adjust *only if* specified as necessary by your vehicle manufacturer (this plug is often pre-gapped).
- Hand-thread the new spark plug into the cylinder head to avoid cross-threading.
- Tighten the spark plug using a torque wrench to the manufacturer's specified torque setting. Overtightening or undertightening can cause damage.
- Reattach the spark plug wire or coil pack.
Care: Spark plugs are maintenance items and do not typically require cleaning during their service life. However, during routine engine maintenance, visually inspect the spark plug if accessible for signs of heavy fouling or damage. If the plug needs replacement, always use the correct NGK part number or an equivalent specified by the vehicle manufacturer.
