Paper-based bedding or wood shavings are recommended for gerbils, dwarf hamsters, and mice. Avoid using cedar or pine shavings as they can be harmful to small pets.
How often should I clean the Gerbilarium Abode?
Spot-clean daily and perform a full clean weekly. The frequency can vary depending on the number of pets and their activity levels.
Can I use this enclosure for a Syrian hamster?
While the Gerbilarium Abode can house a Syrian hamster, consider the RSPCA's recommendation of a minimum cage size of 75cm x 40cm x 40cm. This enclosure may be suitable for temporary housing. It's recommended to ensure that the enclosure provides sufficient space for your hamster to thrive.
What kind of food bowl should I use?
A stainless steel bowl is included, but other ceramic or chew-proof bowls work well. Choose a bowl that is heavy enough to prevent tipping.

Follow the detailed assembly instructions provided with the enclosure. Ensure all parts are securely connected.
Is the enclosure escape-proof?
Yes, the Gerbilarium Abode is designed with an escape-proof design. Ensure that all latches and connections are secure to prevent escapes.
Where should I place the Gerbilarium Abode?
Place the enclosure in a quiet, draft-free area away from direct sunlight and potential hazards, such as electrical cords or other pets.
Troubleshooting
Gerbil or hamster escaping the enclosure.
Double-check that all parts of the enclosure are securely connected. Ensure the lid is properly closed and latched. If the issue persists, inspect for any damage or gaps that could be exploited.
Difficulty cleaning the enclosure.
Disassemble the enclosure as much as possible. Use a pet-safe cleaner and a damp cloth to wipe down all surfaces. Rinse thoroughly and allow the enclosure to dry completely before reassembling.
